I actually forgot his screen name, since he just used it to PM me and nothing else. I deleted his PM's and forgot where I saved them. You might try his email address, which he posted to the RF2 mailing list from (you can find the mailing list archives in the SF RF2 project page (click RF2 site in my...

Well, the compiler Dev-C++ uses (MinGW) is indeed based on a UNIX compiler, but it does anything major Visual C++ does in terms of Windows development (minus, of course, .NET and MFC). I use it for RF2 development (due to its ability to do parallel compiles).

No, everything else has 'evolved' around it.

I wouldn't say it's too much. I would say, however, that DC++ does a terrible job of handling tabbing.

Devmaster's entry was made when RF was relatively modern.

Also true. But one keeps on going missing
David doesn't go missing, he just doesn't talk to the public much and doesn't communicate much while he's working on stuff unless he's asked a specific question.

I was kind of out of it when I clicked the link (and I have my IDE open - bad combination), and I thought I was watching a Half-Life 2 video until I realized what link I had clicked. :D

Right now there are only two of us because I want to wait until it's more complete before announcing it to more of the world, at which point a lot more programming work can be done by others.

Also, I didn't understand your last comment; could you please rephrase it?

If you found no "windows.h" file on your hard drive, you should reinstall the platform sdk.

Every time I open a project's XML file accidentally like you did, I curse Microsoft for the dumb functionality...

You have the "project" open, but not the -project- open. To open the actual project, choose File->Open->Project/Solution... and choose the project file.

I really don't see where Paradox is trying to suppress help from others. Following the instructions in the next link will be more detailed in the part about setting up VC++ itself, which I don't think the RF compilation guide covers: http://www.realityfactory.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2154 (Yes, it...
