Re: Linux
There's currently no Linux makefile. I use Windows now, but when I used Linux I used Eclipse and set up a project, pointing it to the appropriate paths. It worked fine last I checked, with the exception of the editor, which has an OpenGL issue I haven't managed to figure out (not exactly a GLX perso...

Re: Quick update
The Python thing is an experiment with Squirrel. There's no concrete decision, and the only way we'll change is if it's crucial for performance or if it would result in faster development in the long run. It may, it may not. We have to evaluate it; not trying it would be irresponsible. I wish I coul...

Re: Simple RF2 Demo
Thanks for reviving the post; that reminds me to revise that the physics engine will be Bullet, not ODE (and it is currently only used for collision detection, no physics objects are implemented).

Re: Python 3.0 breaks old code (v2.6 is transition python)
I doubt the C API will change, and if not, only existing scripts will be affected. If it does, when Boost updates to 3.0 we will also. At the moment RF2 works fine with 2.6.

Re: Quick update
Thank you very much for all the information! Well, I'm going to be visiting University of Advancing Technology on the 17th and 18th to attend an event with sample classes, so I'm going to stop working on RF2 entirely until then so that my wrists can heal for the classes. If anyone happens to be goin...

Re: Quick update
My wrists are still too bad to work for any meaningful length of time. It kills me to think of what I could be doing on RF2.

Re: MAC OS X Reality Factory thing!
Lindows became Linspire after a trademark lawsuit from Microsoft, betrayed the Linux community, and was unceremoniously dumped by them and died. If you like Windows, use Windows. If you want to try Linux, I would recommend Ubuntu. Even if it isn't the best permanent distribution, it has the best har...

Re: MAC OS X Reality Factory thing!
I don't agree. Linux comes with a great variety of free and open source programs. It's not about quantity...it's about quality. (...) Visual Studio is a much more complete development environment than KDevelop. True, but Eclipse is far more feature-complete (better is debatable, but Eclipse does ha...

Re: A question about licensing...
Thank you very much for the clarification. Let me state what you all said to see if I got it straight: -I can pay the money to get a directly-from-the-government copyright as long as I stay within the boundaries of the Reality Factory Terms of use (e.g. not claiming I made Reality Factory). You can...

Re: A question about licensing...
You may be mistaken about copyright law. Your work is copyrighted as soon as you make it; there's no need to "purchase a copyright", and using a given license doesn't mean you have a registered copyright nor do you have to put a license on a work for it to be copyrighted. "The 1886 Be...
