Re: IOTW

I think it would be a great idea! Once it gets up and running it should help increase RF's popularity and increase the number of users. I know I like to see screens and renders when I am looking up game design things. So what kind of images would be wanted? Renders in RF? Or renders in a 3D modeling...

Re: IOTW

I second that. Seems like it is image of the year. So lets start recruiting everyone we know and get them to join and start working on projects! I know I am working on some stuff for my project again, but I would only make next years image contest as I won't be able to show anything for at least ano...

Re: It's been a while.

Hey glad to see you back. I don't know if you remember or not but I am still working on my game project, but now it's behind closed doors. I am doing major revisions for my project and hope to someday have something made, as life has gotten extremely busy and I might have well as been away for a yea...

Re: Can a 16bit mobo run next gen games?

I forgot the secret to building a cheap pc from scratch. Yes you can buy a $300 machine from dell, but for the same cost you can get better components if you buy from the internet. If you purchase parts from say, Best Buy or Staples, your pc will be rather expensive. I buy all my pc parts from http:...

Re: Calm Before The RF Storm?

Actually I am on your side Destron. I too am waiting for RF2. For all the assets I am currently working on I would love to throw them into a game engine to see them rendered when I am done. Unfortunately though, to make the assets for RF would require quite a load of work as I will be implementing a...

Re: Calm Before The RF Storm?

I suppose it is exam time in schools. I know its PSSA(EDIT: Pennsylvania System of School Assessment) time here. That was never a fun time of year. Anyhow, I suppose it is always very quite this time of year but I just get a little worried that RF may be on its way out. To me it's quite amazing that...

Re: Vista Performance

I had completely forgotten about older systems being configured for Vista. Yes, then all of the optimizing and Ready Boost would have a huge impact on performance. How could I have forgotten about hardware bottlenecks and less optimized pcs?

Calm Before The RF Storm?

I have noticed that the forums have gotten really slow of late. Very few posts, and a few new members and a few new projects, but this is one of the slowest times I recall seeing on these forums. So my question is what's going on? Are people just very busy now, or is RF slowing fading? What is your ...

Re: Vista Performance

Oh I didn't know that Ready Boost Worked like that. Well I still didn't notice any speed increase. I have 4GB of ram now and a 7200RPM HDD with 16MB cache so I guess that is why I don't see a performance gain. When I built my pc most computers used 5400RPM HDD with 8MB cache. I upgraded the HDD in m...

Re: Vista Performance

I didn't fully investigate your link there but I perform my own tune up. Frankly I have found ready boost to be useless if you have 2GB of ram as I tried it with my Desktop and Vista Ultimate x64. There was no speed increase with a 1GB flash drive devoted to Ready Boost. As for less RAM, it probably...

Re: Checkout Windows 7

Linux is good, nice and stable. However its graphics could be improved. GNOME and KDE need a professional touchup to compete with Vista Aero. Other than that I just want Linux to run most MS programs. If RF, Adobe CS suites and trueSpace worked on Linux, I would be all Linux. Unfortunantly none of t...

Re: Can a 16bit mobo run next gen games?

Glad to hear from the other side. From all that I have heard that Dell's are a problem. My high school used dells, they worked well, and I know they can be stable machines, but for the most part I have only heard negative stories from them. Of course this could be just because of the market share, t...

Re: Can a 16bit mobo run next gen games?

Hey, no problem, I think I will look into what pcs are available from both manufactures then and see which I feel are good. I'm glad I can help out. I personally would stay away from Dell. I have had to work on more of my friends Dell pcs than any other type of pc. Also I know they get custom manufa...

Re: Will there be another video game crash?

Personally I don't think technology has to be revolutionary for a revolutionary game to be made. Look at Portal from Valve, sure portals have been used before and the gameplay idea was tried before, but they took the idea and made something great from it. I loved Portal and find it to be one of the ...

Re: Can a 16bit mobo run next gen games?

So are you looking into purchasing a prebuilt system? or building one yourself? Like I said before you can build a much better system for less if you do it yourself, but you then have to be very brave as playing with $$$$$ hardware isn't the most relaxing thing a person can do especially if you have...
