Re: Reality Factory as a Retro Game Creator

I think the idea of promoting RF as a retro game creator is a great idea. By doing so, new devs wont be compelled to compare RF to Unity, UDK, Torque etc. Although outdated with old tech, it certainly would be great to show how it can teach you optimization and is a great program for beginners. Besi...

Re: Where is everyone?

My game project has pretty much been reduced from my young ambition of a full game to a hobby right now. I have scrapped the story countless times and changed core mechanics to implement many times over. I spent a few years with Unity now and have put in a lot of time learning all the in's and outs ...

Re: Where is everyone?

Glad to hear your on the up and up Bernie. I think RF2 would be salvageable as a project if significant work would be done to publicize it. However, re-watching the videos for RF2 from AndyCR and having worked with other game engines and seen how other more modern engines work, I think RF2 might be ...

Where is everyone?

Where did everyone go? I came back to check things out and posts are weeks apart with most forum sections having their latest posts over a month ago. It's very depressing. I myself have moved on to Unity 3D. Waiting for RF2 became too much and the nice features in Unity free were enough to suck me i...

Ah, thanks. So is this related to RF2 at all or is this a separate project? Or will is work with RF2. I haven't been around for a while, so I don't even know where to look to find the answer to this.

Hello all! How are things?

Hi everyone, If you don't recognize me you probably have joined since January last year when I started lurking around the Unity3d game engine. I am so attached to these forums I almost feel as if I am cheating on RF . I just wanted to stop by and see how things are doing. It seems that AndyCR h...

Re: Are the forums still alive?(post here so I know please)

And some of us come back from the dead every now and again.

Good to see this site is still up and running. I sure do miss the day days of RF, back about 7 years ago when it was thriving.

Btw, I will still pop in every now and again. ;) So don't count me out just yet.

Re: Can we use half-life sounds?

It doesn't matter if you want to prove it or not, it's illegal.

So what does that mean if you make a game with copyrighted sounds unknowingly? I mean, I don't want to make a good game on my own and find out my gun sound effects were copyrighted when lawyers come knocking on my door.

Re: Project - Adrenaline [DEMO RELEASE]

Not bad, I love the skybox. The bushes seem a little big and too dark for the lighting the skybox is telling my eyes they should have. I read on your site each bush is 8 ploygons? I think you can do it in 4 still. Use a large triangle instead of plane of 2 triangles for one part of the bush and re-u...

Re: Project - Adrenaline [DEMO RELEASE]

The issues was on my laptop with Intel Integraded graphics. It had some lighting issues with direct x 7 but I know that's my integrated card with DX issues. I am sure this is an issue with the game engine as its the openGL rendering path allows for more frames to be processed per second and RF must ...

Re: Project - Adrenaline [DEMO RELEASE]

I did try the demo and it was equally fantastic! I ran into an issue on my laptop when in OpenGL mode I was unable to jump past the second brick wall. But other than that hickup which is the game engines issue, it played great!
