Wunderwerk Engine update

I was just writing a blog post for the first time in months and remembered how it all began, and was surprised to see that the reality factory community is still active! I was expecting an abandoned website when i googled for it. Well, now that I know that you're still here, I thought I give a sign ...

Direct X 10 by any chance?
no need for dx10.. the engine runs under opengl, so it offers the same functionality on all operating systems. no need for vista.

they're stored as greyscale; it's still very large, i know. but you can use smaller resolutions, 1024 or even 512 still look fine :)
yes i upload the whole mesh once at startup, so i only have to send the relevant matrices to the shader each frame.

thanks for the nice comments :D

soft shadow mapping - on this screenshot there are two light sources with 4096² shadow maps and a 3x3 blur kernel. even works with parallax mapping (hardly noticeable on this screenshot though). plus, animations are now exclusively computed on the graphics card (by a vertex shader). i'm still lackin...

there is no difference between actor and level geometry, so yes it's possible. i simply didn't have a bump map for this model.
