This is starting to get really annoying. After reading the other posts and forums referenced here, I've tried several solutions and none of them work. I've: 1) replaced d3d8thk.dll with d3d8thk.w2k 2) ditto with user32.dll 3) Removed the Direct X update I had (9.18 ) and installed DirectX 8.1 Sugges...

I used the Web Installer at the MS site to install the latest version ( 9.18 ) of DirectX. After reading one of the links, it seems that what I need to do is uninstall that, and reinstall DirectX 8.1. I'll give that a try.

No, it didn't work.

I checked /SYSTEM32 just in case the file was restored, but it's the w2k copy I put there.

I thought I'd try Reality Factory and have just downloaded RealityFactory075A and RealityFactory075C zip files, then installed / updated them. Seem to be having problems running RF. First I got a message saying "can't find dinput8.dll". I downloaded a copy of this and now I get an error me...
