Re: What Can I Do to Get Ready?
RF2 will use Ogre's MESH format. If you have a tool that exports to Ogre's XML mesh format, just use the Ogre Command Line Utilities to convert the XML to a mesh file. Blender is one of the most powerful free options, but it does have a steep learning curve. Truespace 7.6 is actually the most power...

Re: What Can I Do to Get Ready?
Sorry, can't help much there. Most of us aren't professional developers, so gamedev.net or google will be able to help more than us.

Re: What Can I Do to Get Ready?
1. Yeah, model everything individually, and put them together in the editor. 2. Certainly. 3. Yes, if you've worked fairly hard at it. 4. There's a host of blender tutorials out there. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Blender+tutorials Also, try blenderartists.com and the main blender website. As for squirrel, ...

Re: Keeping Objects To Scale
Because I model everything, including the level geometry, in blender, I just do something like 1 blender unit is one meter, and model everything accordingly.

Re: Dimensions
Units in 3D space aren't a specific amount, by which I mean, a texel(the 3D unit) can be as big or as small as you want. For example, you decide the main character will be 2 meters tall. So you put his model in RF, and scale it to, say, 20 texels high. Then, each texel would be 10cm. But if you scal...

Re: How to Make realistic Flowing terrain
Can one in RF Edit manipulate individual vertices on brushes, or would a third-party ".map" editor be needed (like the gmax "Tempest" gamepack)? -thanks You need an external application. I personally make all my level geometry in blender(a 3D modeling program) as it gives me far...

RF2 is only a few months away; while you wait, you can always make models and other content in preperation ;o

Re: What Can I Do to Get Ready?
It's highly debateable about truespace being better than blender, but not worth getting in a fight over ;o
Besides, it's not the tools, it's the person wielding them

Re: 3D objects and models, i need elaboration
You can indeed use models as props or terrain; I would go as far as to say it's a better idea to do the whole level geometry in a different modeling program, and export it to RF.
As for truespace, check the downloads section or google for trueGene, which should convert from truespace to RF formats.

Squirrel is the only language you will need to learn, correct.

Expected release date is May 2010, IIRC. And yes, you should learn squirrell. You don't technically NEED to but it would be advised.

Re: MOVED: Camera question
Webcams are never as good as a photo taken from a proper camera by someone who knows what they're doing. So no, your mac camera is NOT as good as a proper camera.
