Re: Free modeling programs?

Blender is the best free modeling program, but it's also more complicated due to more power. If it's too much for you, use something like anim8or or wings 3d. Or just spend $25 and get milkshape :P

Re: Hello

Welcome to RF! :D

I suggest you make a simple FPS game, with basic scripted enemies and a few custom models and sounds. Maybe have two levels, and a menu to switch between the levels. From there, you can move onto a larger FPS with a bit of storyline and more custom art.

Re: Assistance With Best Format to go for .. Importing

Blender needs a PHD in computing to understand the interface before you even start to model anything. No offence but have you tried any of the 2.5+ versions of blender? Much more easy to understand. Also, if you can get your hands on a .edu email account, you can get a student version of max for fr...

Pleased ta meetcha humpty, good to have some new members coming into RF.

"> NOT learn modeling (Would love to avoid this)" NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Modeling's awesome, dunno why you would want to avoid it :P But if you aren't an artsy type, I suppose that's all good.

RF on Tinkernut!

RF got featured on tinkernut.com a while ago, I didn't notice it even though I subscribe to it because the title didn't say Reality factory in it :P

Anyway, here's the link: http://tinkernut.com/archives/2185
There's several parts, and many very interesting videos on tinkernut besides.

Re: RF2 Mascot Modelling Contest

I'm going to try my hand at this. The only constraint is having the free time to get it done, which I don't have right now. School + guitar + part time job + no computer make things difficult :P

Woops, I meant to say RF1. I didn't think RF1 was THAT limited, if you run it on a fairly modern computer.
