A strange thing happens when I play the game on the new computer. A wall in the office of the commander turns transparent.

A ship passing outside the window can in the new computer be seen through the wall.
Probably one of those weird bugs that happen for no logical reason. Did you try rebooting your computer?

I have rebooted and I have tried the previous version, DEMO3, all with the same result. Weird indeed.

I am on the track of the mystery of the transparent wall... sort of.

Looking in the editor I noticed I have a spotlight pointed at the transparent wall. I tried changing some settings. The wall was still transparent in the new computer. So I moved the spotlight away. And the wall was not transparent any more.

The spotlight caused the transparency.
How that can be, I don't understand. It would seem like the 2 computers are interpreting the information from the game on how to draw the wall with spotlight light on it differently.
Anyone have any idea on how? Seems like it could be good to know why.

The scene doesn't look good without the lightning so I can not leave it as it is now, (without light).

I played some of demo 4 and did not have the wall problem. ... Strange...
The music did stop playing after a while though. Right around the end of the scene with kats boss.

This far I only know of the wall problem appearing on my new computer.

Loss of music.
Does this happen every time?
Is it right at the switch between in the room with the commander and seeing ambassador Znaurk outside the room?
You get music back at the traveling to the space station cut scene?

It's in the middle of talking to the commander. Does come back later. Also, I tried to save game in the middle of talking to commander. When pressing esc to come back to game the dialog disappeared. You could still make selections for dialog though. Tried to reload and the game crashed. When saving game during player control there is no problem. Will keep testing in my free time. This is coming along great.

Thank you for the feed-back. I really appreciate it.

The 'save game during dialog' bug I have been able to repeat and I think I understand what is happening. Fixing it might be a different question.

The loss of music is more of a mystery at this point.

----
I've replaced the spotlight with different lights, and the transparent walls problem.

Then I went and updated the drivers for the graphic board and got some new transparency problems. I changed the driver setting for the game to openGL and stuff went back to normal.

I've made a license text (free to play but not to sell, nothing guaranteed) and a manual to be part of the game package.

Next I'm planning to build an installer for the game. I wish it wasn't so many files to handle :)

I'm really glad you got your game made. Maybe it can get hosted on the RF sitr.

Not quite finished yet, but getting close.
Made an installer for the game. A lot of files to include. :)
It installs the files fine and the game runs (had a bit of trouble with a missing font before I figured out what the trouble was).
So all good this far.

Still a couple of things to look into, that I might want to change, clean up or fix in the game as such.
There might be a couple of files that I could get rid of.

If there is an interest of having the game in some way on the site, I would be very happy about that.

Installer looks good.

I'm pretty sure QOD would host this all the other games. I think he will be happy to see a game made with the engine he has been keeping alive all these years.

The bug seppgirty identified (saving during dialog) has not been fixed.
I have a hypothesis on the root to the problem but it would be a major work to rewrite the dialog script mechanism. I'll try to do it smarter next time.
For now, don't save during dialog. :D

It's always bothered me that the video playing on the buildings is not aligned correctly. To align the video go in to RFEditPro and load that level. Then select the brush that has the video and press Page Down on the keyboard. You can then use the left and right arrow keys or cursor to select the face that the video is played on. Then in the face attributes dialog box use the Texture Offset and Draw Scale controls to correct the alignment of the video. Press Page Down again to go back to brush mode. You can also toggle face and brush mode from within the Mode menu at the top of the screen.

Sorry that this has bothered you.
Maybe it is even worse then when I tell you that it is intentional, sort of.

The animation is originally from an earlier game (Jacqueline White - the Curse of the Mummies)

I did use this animation for a wall-TV commercial in an earlier Space Ranger game (ep.52 the Redemption of Grisli Adams)

So I thought I'd do that in this game too. I used a wall decal entity and had to convert my original PNG:s to BMP:s and got a version that did not quit agree with RF, so that's the way it came out in the game scene. I sort of liked the idea that the technique of this future city didn't work perfectly, so I let it be as it came out.

So, a feature, not a bug.
