Question Regarding Mines

Post by VilySoftworks » Tue Sep 25, 2007 3:01 am

Hi everyone! I'm Vily and my game is a science fiction game with dominant horror elements. I already completed the storyline. I carefully finished the plot with some details needing attention. The characters are still in development. I still have to complete the artwork in the pencil and paper design phase. I still have a lot of work to do but I could say that I have enough of a story to start working on the construction of the first game level.

Now, I am writing to you because I need to obtain more information about mines and the mining process. Some parts of my story takes place in a mine. But my question is, what type of mine is most appropriate in a rainforest? How are such mines layed out? Are there any realistic, detailed mine blueprints freely available? What buildings are built in a mine? What buildings are critical for any mine? I was thinking of open-pit mines but just recently I found out that those type of mines are mostly existent in desert regions. I need to put a mining operation in a rainforest because that's where the story shifts for some time. I've done research about the mines but there is limited relevant information about the topic on the internet. Thus, I would appreciate very much the aid of fellow game developers on lending me relevant information regarding my above stated concern.

:)

Well, the mine would probably be drilled into a hill of some sort. There should be sleeping quarters for the miners, and mining equipment, jackhammers, drills, even industrial drilling tools.

In africa the mine were at one time all dimond mines. They were dug into the ground like a pit and then tunnels would branch out from that. The workers would be typically wearing orange jumpsuits. They would use drilling machines such as pnumatic drills. Also the lights would look like youre typical lightbulb. If you are really desparate play the level pugari mining complex in the classic PS1 Game Syphon Filter 3. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D (I like Smileys) :D :D :D :D

Thank you all very much for your feedback. I appreciate it very much but I must inform you that the concern of this post is no longer relevant to my needs. I abandoned the game project that involved the mines setting in order to begin a more interesting game project.

Hello fps! That's a very cool nickname, but what's cool as well is that signature of yours.

Yea it was a compliment and I'm contempt that you got it. And why you say you you seem harsh? I don't know why you say that because being harsh it means something different than typing that you don't understand a compliment.
