miniMIZE is a small desktop enhancing application that catches windows that you minimize and puts a thumbnail of the main application window on your desktop.

pretty cool tool if you have a billion windows open at once

I also prefer to use GeoShell as a replacement shell for windows - allows you to make custom toolbars, rightclick menus etc

zmodeler http://www.zmodeler2.com I think it cost 42usd. You can use the free version but you can't sell any of the models.
even if you decide not to use the software the site has some nice tutorials for making cars.

pixel has been called a 'photoshop knockoff' and the purchase price is just $32.00 http://www.kanzelsberger.com/pixel/?page_id=12

here's a cubase clone for digital music folks. free for non-commercial and really cheap to buy. it's called kristal audio.

A while ago I found this great and free terrain generator called TerraGen. It can produce photorealistic renderings of different landscapes.

It's a terrific tool for making all kinds of sky textures.
Here's a skydome I made:

BTW, there's a lot of useful tools in this thread. I had totally forgotten about them. :)
