Camera view for orbital drop?

Post by GMer » Thu Nov 12, 2009 3:09 am

My game starts out with an orbital drop (yippee!) that the player can control (keep speed down and avoid stuff or you go splat!).
Anyway I am in rather uncharted territory with orbital drops, so I am asking, what camera view would make the orbital drop enjoyable (and epic)?

1) A chase view, much like some airplane games (sorry, no pics)

2) A 3/4 to the rear view

3) A side scrolling-type view

4) A 3/4 to the front view

Cast your ballot!
Ahhh! Virgil is on fire!
Over 3 years (has it been that long?) and just now I noticed the day and month of my birthday were switched. Whoops!

Some 2d games I made, haven't made anything in a year though O.o

If you are avoiding objects in 3D then it needs to be a chase camera.

From those pics, I prefer the third one.

The pawn, the pawn, the pawn is on FIRE!

Actually, in these pictures they are static entity proxies

Thank you all for the feedback! I hope to receive more in the future.
Chase view seems to be the most favored so far... I'll see how that goes.
