we had a ton of tutorials on the other site, including one i wrote on making 3D muzzleflashes. Gekido has said that he's working on putting a static version of that site online, so hopefully that will be helpful to you.

in the meantime, AndyCR and Zen_Budha have written some good tutorials that should get you started, here's a url to the one: http://www.freewebs.com/andycr/realityfactory1.htm

So, you want to make games? Great! My first question is, do you have a 3D modeler to create the characters and objects for the game(s) you want to make? There are many 3D modlers out ther. I am using gameSpace Lite, its a 33meg download from there web site, but its totaly free. There are limitations though, only can save models of 650 polygons, and sceenes of 2000 polygons(they are levels, but you cant convert them into RF format) It is good for the low poly games that are made in RF. But of course, the RF resources have actors of 700+ polygons. Anyway. If you use gameSpace Lite of TrueSpace, you need trueGene.

I dont know if those will work, havent posted web links ever in the RF forums.[/url]

truespace 3.2 is probably the better choice here; it's totally free without any built in limitations

Ug, I take back the recomend for gS Lite. I have ran into some issues lately with it. I tried to save a scene with over 650 polygons(the limit for a single object) and it said I couldnt save becauase it couldnt save objects with over 650 polys. Checked every object and not 1 was over 300 polys. Its a glitchy program. I guess I will be trying tS 3.2 soon.
Think outside the box.
