update to dx9

Im interested in what exactly will change when qod has finished this update to direct x9.
because im considering to use neoaxis engine instead of reality factory, but if reality factory can be improved to a level where i can use more polygons etc then i will stick with reality factory.
please can someone tell me what will be improved. i need to know everything that will change.

i do like working with rf but need a more advanced engine
