Man,That's Getting on My last Nerve!!!!!

Post by metal_head » Sat Sep 06, 2008 2:42 am

...Every monh I have toreinstal my computer, because after a month of usage the computer starts to show messages saying "your computer is at risk scan now" and opens web pages on the internet itself...if I leave my computer turned on and I go somewhere for an hour or two, when I get back there will be millions of messages poped up by themselves...the computer gets really slow and doesn't let me open some web pages too.To open the RF forums I have to set the website as my homepage...the computer gets really unstable and I often have to restart it (from the restart button, because the start menu sometimes can't be opened).Every time I reinstall my computer and use it for about a month the same thing happens.I'm sick of reinstalling Windows!
If someone has had this problem before, please help me remove it,it's a virus or malware (I'm not sure how's it called).Oh,yeah! Also when I test a level in RF and play in it for more than 3 minutes, the PC crashes and nothing happens,I just see the last framerae from tha game and than after two minutes like that, the PC restarts itself.

Now I have the problem and it's getting worse by the minute (and I mean it! )
Not sure what anti-virus software to use...

If its happening every month you may have a virus hiding in your MBR. Are you doing a complete format writing zeros over the entire drive? Or are you using just windows format for reinstalling?

yes,I'm doind a complete format, keeping only the RF folder and some resource folders.
The virus just finds me...I can't hide from it :(.

Thanks, bernie,I'll try AVG I have Avast (a trial version) installed on my PC,but it doesn't find anything.

BTW,some time ago I was scanning my computer using Adware Se,and it found something called Trojan Adclicker, and that's just what happens to my PC,it's slow, and it opens internet pages itself.

Spybot Search & Destroy is a good free program for eliminating & Imunising against Ads and Spyware. Google for it.

"yes,I'm doind a complete format, keeping only the RF folder and some resource folders"

does that mean your backing these files up on a different storage device, might be worht puting on to a CD/DVD

and yea if its coming back every month Jonas seems to have the best idea, insert your windows XP disk (if its xp your running) let it go to the first page of installing windows, hit 'r' repair this will bring up command line for you, then type in format C: this will then take a few hours to completely format your hard drive, reboot your PC and install windows as normal, as soon as you get windows back up get your virus scanner AVG an Avast and also spybot search and destroy, then move any files you had from your work back over to your PC, if this is not working its probably a programe you downloading and allowing to install under a different name to what it is.

If you are backing up your programs you might be backing up the virus too. You must check EVERYTHING inluding your data before reinstalling and replacing your data.

Oh,yeah! The latest addition to the virus :D :
I can't open Paint (it says: "Failed To Create Empty Document")
Also id doesn't allow to download almost nothing (I'm trying to get AVG and Spybot, but that stops me from downloading them) and,the funniest thing: When I click on an icon with the R Button on the mouse in the menu which appears, there isn't that "Open With" option any more..

I know, virusses can be irritating. I hope you find a solution! I've been sitting with one on my computer for like 2 years, it keeps resetting my time and day to 0:00 on the first january of 2001 :s. My PC is really incredibly slow now, and even a scan with like every virusscanner on the market does nothing...

(This is not my development PC, so don't be afraid for downloading my demo's once I get them ready! :)).

I really hate them.

Good luck, I already know that my mission is impossible...

yeah,I don't even know why viruses are made...I've even heard of people, who had make their own viruses and got their PCs infected with them accidently :D (really)
two things I hate a lot: Viruses and spam...that just makes me so angry.
Now I'm scanning my computer with AVG (I got it at last),but it found just some .htm files and that's all, scanned the WINDOWS folder and found nothing, now it's scanning my games folder (two games in there - UT 2004 and Half Life 2 :D ) and will find also nothing, because the games are bough and not downloaded from the internet of course and I don't think there'll be something there.

Actually I remembered something. Two days ago I was scanning my computer with Adware Se,there were no problems with my PC,but I wanted to remove whatever is in my computer's memory and makes the computer unstable (if there was something).Well,it found 436 files and I deleted them all,and than after an hour, the Horror started (it sounds like a joke, but it really is a horror,it's a total disaster).
I can't imagine that...scanned the computer and deleted all the bad files and than the computer became infected...well that sucks!

Viri are generally come from pirated software and downloads to bypass trial limits and keys and pornography the rest come from email.

And mine comes from nothing,I didn't get the virus from the internet for sure, because I was cleaning the computer.Pirated software....I don't download pirated software, but that could be a resaon, because Bulgaria is full of pirates...I have a friend, who has uploaded over 60 GBs in the net...and he's proud of that :x and that maybe a reson, because all the communities and sites in Bulgaria (almost all) I visit for one or other reason have pirated software and porn.
I usually download only trial versions of software and when the trial expires I search for another software with the same function or I buy it....but this virus...I just can't explain this to myself..I don't download games and movies...all I download is textures and models from turbosquid.
All the anti-virus programs found that "Zango Shopping Report" I think I got this from Megaupload,I remember downloading a pack of cheap textures from Megaupload once..but it was months ago.

Yeh Zango is definatly a virus, I once downloaded a model and since then my computer doesn't work properly anymore (that's more than a year ago, you can see how frustrated I am now). It keeps saying that I have this virus, but I already deleted it everytime I log in on the infected PC. Really annoying!

I fixed it by spybot search & destroy that bernie recommended (thanks, bernie). It found some other viruses on my computer and it fixed them...I don't know if there's an effect because I just finnished the scaning and fixing. Now my computer gave a message on the start up saying "The system has recovered from a serious error" also I recived a "The specified module could not be found : WINDOWS (forgot the name).dll"
I read in the microsoft site that btaining the newest service pack (it's SP3) should fix the problem. At least I can open Paint with no problems :D
