I saw this under the whos online just recently:

Can anybody explain who Google bot is? I have a feeling that Google bot might be a Google spider, trying to index new threads and pages that come up on the forums.

It's the Google search crawler. It enables Google to search the pages of this forum so we can search them using Google.
Many Bothans died to bring you this signature....

not really, this is the kind of thing where you would regularly ask the forums, somebody could've named themselves Google [bot] plus, It was specific to this forum, since usually Google Spiders can't be seen when they are indexing websites.
