About RF2...

Post by Agentarrow » Sat Jul 14, 2007 7:14 pm

This is the first time I've heard of RF2, I guess I just never really paid attention to the forums section. So I naturally have a few questions.
1. Will it have a similar tool workspace to RF? (like how to build things and what the screen looks like)
2. Will it have the XP or even Vista look instead of the old W98 style?
3. Does it still run on Genesis 3D?
4. What windows operating system is it optomized for?
5. Do you have a rough release date?
6. Is going to have a working quickviewer?
7. Does it fix a good portion of the bugs from RF, or is it a complete new start?
8. How long have you been working on it?
9. Will it be downloadable soon?

phew... I got all that out. Now I just breathe...

1. Will it have a similar tool workspace to RF? (like how to build things and what the screen looks like)

To an extent. It's certainly inspired from RF, but I am taking liberties where I believe it will improve the usability.

2. Will it have the XP or even Vista look instead of the old W98 style?

Yes, it will take the XP and Vista themes when on the respective platforms. Similarly, it will take on the Linux GTK theme when on Linux and (when I get either a Mac machine or someone to compile the tools on a Mac) the Cocoa theme of Macs.

3. Does it still run on Genesis 3D?

No, Ogre.

4. What windows operating system is it optomized for?

It isn't really optimised for any specific version. It should work with anything newer than 98SE.

5. Do you have a rough release date?

Yes. May 8th, 2010.

6. Is going to have a working quickviewer?

I imagine there will be a quickviewer scriptset which allows you to do that, but since the editor will use Ogre for its rendering, the editor window is kind of a "quickviewer".

7. Does it fix a good portion of the bugs from RF, or is it a complete new start?

It doesn't have any of the RF bugs since the code isn't based on RF's, but has a nice brand new batch of it's own.

8. How long have you been working on it?

About two years.

9. Will it be downloadable soon?

Yes, in an incomplete state.

Thanks for the questions, and thanks for helping answering them guys!
