[OBSOLETE] CANT IMPORT ANY STATICMESH TEXTURES

Post by cbe20032003 »

Hi, first of all thanks to everyone for making and supporting RF so well, its definately the coolest thing I have seen on the pc for a long time. :D

My problem is:
1)I make models in milkshape, export .bdy files, texture them in
Lithunwrap put them all in the same directory as astudio and compile
them.
2)When i view the .act files in actorviewer they have all the textures.
3)I put them in media\actors and try to add them in rfeditpro as
staticmeshes. The staticmesh appears but has no texture and is either
completly white or has taken the first texture in the .txl file.

If anybody can help me with this i would REALLY appreciate this as it is drivin me nuts!
Thankyou

Actor textures don't appear in the editor. When you run the level it should have the texture, but in the editor it will take the first texture in your library to texture all the actors.

What parameters are you entering for the static mesh entity?

Your textures must be powers of 2, 16x32, 128x256, etc, if not
they'll display in actorviewer but not in game. Check the
faq
http://terrymorgan.net./rffaq.zip for tips and there are some
static meshes on http://terrymorgan.net/download.htm, (domes.zip?) see if
they load.

Thanks for all the help guys. :D
I think it might be something to do with the way i am exporting from Ms3d, because when i dont go through Lithunwrap, the textures are there! (just not UV mapped). I must be doin somethin stoopid  ha ha!

AS hike suggested the textures must be square, and also the must be BMP's or TGA's only as well,

make sure you have typed the name in the szactorfile exactly right as well it is case sensitive as well

i.e notwhitehole.act
