More Lights,more buggy?

I had 38 spotights (with arc 360 degrees to light normal mapped actors because standard lights dont light them)
and,i got crashes early in preview.
and i wanted to add much more lights.
When i later supressed the spotlights (excluded their group from the compile) and used fewer lights the level worked.

Maybe my machine miscalculates the level-or there might be bugs and the engine gets confused by the many lights and brushes.
If it is a matter of lack of memory it would propably slow down and freeze occasionally,
but it would nt crash.

I hope it does nt need compiling in full vis to fix this,because it would take i dont know how many hours.
And i think it should handle without full vis(i plan to try full vis when i finish a level).


I sometimes tried to start at different locations and it crashed at the begining without moving ,zooming in/out or rotating.


There are nt any intersecting brushes or other things that could mess it.

I looked the realityfactory text log file,and i saw only loading and initialising reports.

I saw no error message on the log file.It crashed before writing anything to the log file.
I saw only a warning about File open attempt failed on type '9', file '.\keyboard.ini',but it was high at the first lines of the log file and that could nt be the problem.

The error report details from the crash message window,looked gibberish to me and is propably too big to post here.
Apart from numbers and symbols,i saw in it something like "could not allocate space for bone lightning".I dont know if this would be the problem.
The player i used was virgil at scale 1.

Maybe the debug fremerate console would tell something about the crash if it could give more details than what it does.

For the moment i use only two master spotlights just to see the level run,and flames to help the normal mapped actors get lighted.

I hope it wont start crash again when i add more brushes.

In the Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temp it was this 4fe2_appcompat.tx.
I managed to grab it before it was automaticaly deleted.
Some other times a temporary folder was created at the temp documents and deleted also.
I also managed to save that report folder,which also included a realityfactory.exe file 200mb big.

I add more brushes and the compile always counts up to Collect Leaf Vis Bits for leaf 799.
Could it be that there is a limit of 799 leafs in compile without full vis,and it needs to calculate more visibility so it crashes?
It still crashes when i include 22 flames (along with the two master spotlights).

The performance without the flames was much better than i expected.
I will keep the flames hidden for now,and use spouts instead.
I dont try to compile in full vis because i preview often and i cant wait that long each time i compile.

And,i noticed that when i move the detail slider,only the fog changes,and the farclip plane remains the same.
To see the changes of the farclip plane take effect i must click new game.

I hided many of the brushes to see what it will be If "Collect Leaf Vis Bits for leaf" count will be lower than 799 and it crashed again,so it is nt the leaf vis.

I did another compile with all geometry flagged as invisible "Clip" and along the 40 spotlights,
and it crashed again.

So,if it is nt a rendering geometry problem,why the lights are a problem,since the clip brushes do not block the light and need no light calculations.

Next is the collision-which i dont know if collision is calculated in real time-or if it is pre-calculated during the compile.Anyway,the crash occurs before i can move the player to collide anywhere else than the floor he starts on.

I should nt post.It is not a bug,it cant handle open areas with that many brushes.
