[OBSOLETE] BIG PROBLEM!!!

Post by Gamemaker » Fri Dec 05, 2008 4:02 pm

I made yesterday big map. I saved it, I was even able to compile it. But today as I tried to open it again in RF, it crashes saying no error or something like that :S .
When you open the rfeditpro, then you can see RF logo for 2 seconds or so, but my logo only flashed once, and rfeditpro was closing. This problem is only with this map!

Please help .

hello Gamemaker

if you havent solved your problem yet
try this

complie that map and then try to run it....
when or if it fails .......
then........go to your realityfactory root folder or TOOLS folder
and find the file called...Realityfactory.log
then open it up using wordpad and scroll down and read it closely...
almost all errors will show up this way.
it's usually one dinky lil file that didnt load is all.
let me know if this worked for you,...
if not...post your Realityfactory.log file here so we can all scan it to help you.
:D

Is it the editor or the Realityfactory.exe that crashes?

Editor. No error in realityfactory.log, because I can't even compile this, so there is old error, maybe missing playerentity or something like that. Realityfactory.log is not bound in this problem. Sorry for my english, I'm Estonian ;)

If it crashes when you try to open your file, there is a big chance that your work is lost. I once had this error too and there was no way to recover the file. What you can try to do is to use another editor (There are 3: rfedit RfeditPro and WorldEditor). Since only the standard RfeditPro is included in the installer, you might have to search the internet for the others.

No prob with your English. I've seen far worse.

I think that I let this map there. I think it wasn't so beautiful, maybe I make better one. It's good to think always positive ;) I just hope it doesn't recur :?

If RFEditPro can't open the map then there is little to no chance that the other editors can open it. (They can be found on the download page, no need to search the internet ...). So if your map file got corrupted somehow, the only way to repair it is to edit it manually in a text editor. In most cases however the corruption is so bad that it's not worth trying to correct the error. For your future work remember to save often and use different file names. :!:
