getting media into RF?

Post by rainforestr » Mon Jul 10, 2006 2:46 am

OK, I was just wondering how to get the models, textures, ect. from the VFS file or where ever else into the editor. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to RF rainforestr :D ,

Do you mean resources from the existing demos? In the tools folder of your RF installation, there is a program called rfvfs.exe, this is the program you use to add or extract media to the vfs file. You can extract any media from a vfs, as in my Castle of the Pharaoh demo, all my actors and bitmaps are in there, just select the one you want, click 'Extract', then save it to the proper folder where is can be used. Use the same folder structure as you see in the rfvfs program. actors in the media\actors folder, etc.

The online help tells you how to then add actors to you game and so forth:

Hmm, I don't really see how to add an actor in the online help. Go here:

http://dhost.info/realityfactory/tutorials.htm

And download the editor basics, and especially the Making 3D Games with RF e-book. it is dated as far as the egnine is concerned, but it does tell you how to add an actor to a level and much more.

You will use rfEditPro, under tools in you Rf install. That is where levels begin!!

As you need help, post here in the appropriate forum, and we'll be gald to help you out!!
