multiple texture layers

Post by scott » Thu Oct 18, 2007 4:05 am

i dont know why i havnt asked for this earlier, however i am now, is it possible to get RF to have multuple textures per face, it would make texturing work easier and possibly save memory using a base texture more than one area and having a second texture on top, you can sort of do that with a second face but its messy and would be better to have multiple textures.

I think it is possible. RF already renders the lightmaps using multitexturing (if the cards supports it, if not, it's rendering the same face twice with different textures)
Problem, is like always, our beloved Genesis3d bottleneck...how to implement the multitexturing? Where to implement? Regardless, I would wait with that until the D3D9 driver has come out. If we did it before, we may be finished and then 2 weeeks after the D3D9 Driver comes out and we have to do the work again.
Everyone can see the difficult, but only the wise can see the simple.
