Complex sketchy

Post by Tabulanis » Wed Dec 06, 2006 4:28 am

Here is the first attempt at a sketched out city 7200 polys runs well.
I think it's too sketchy but it took forever so here it is.
I made an automated proccess to actualy hatch out the lights and shadows.
Tough put is getting it baked onto the textures.

Nice! I like the look of it! I agree with the too sketchy part though. Just slightly too sketchy.

im thinking that you could use the 'soften' tool on your textures, i belive it may look better, but is a suggestion and not sure if it would look good or not

already did I think I just dont have the resolution to do it right and if Increase it or the number of textures itll go nuts and run badly.

so I guess a way waway from the effect workin yet

if you have the LOD system in place couldnt you use this to change the texture resolution, so the nearer they are the higher they are? or does it just effect the actual models but keeps the original texture.

I like it, but honestly it does look way too sketchy.

Try not having QUITE so many lines across the textures. Outline the edges with dark lines, and then use much lighter lines to slightly fill in the inside of the edges and to fill in some details.

I think the main obstacle to your look is that the edges of the geometry aren't defined enough.

Yeo tuns out its an edge problem that only half the edges that are needed are visble. I shoulda thought about that I think I can fix that.

Also I was thinking about a way to do halftones like old comics but There is a problem with the mapping.

Almost feels like your playing a game right out of the pages of a comic book! Looks a little over-done like the comic book illustrator had too much coffee.

This would be real cool if you could change the compass, health bar, and the weapon to have that comic book feel as well.

I like it.
