An unknown problem.

I am a newbie in Reality Factory and have been using the tutorials at http://www.stormthecastle.com. I am currently at the cutting the doorway part. After completing the tutorial, i tried to compile it but a pop-up came saying "Error compiling level". I followed the tutorial again and again but there has been no change. What do you think is the problem? I have also uploaded my game which is in a .ZIP file.

If you post the log which is in the RF main folder then we can see whats wrong. It's probably because there's a leak

I compiled your level and the compiler output did say there was a leak. To find the leak go to File->Open within the editor and then select "Leak File (*.PNT)" in the "Files of type" selection box. Then open the test.pnt file. There should be a red line going through the level, the end of the red line that goes out of the level is where the leak is. In your level the leak is caused by a cut brush being too large and cutting a hole through the outer wall.

G'day,

This is my contribution for the assistance I have recieved.

I had lots of errors in running your level, most were to do with file paths. For your computer and setup this may not be an issue.

You do however have NO playersetup or playerstart.

I am not sure if that causes an error, I am guesing it does.

With your game loaded into editor I went to templates to add the playerstart and playersetup entities and they were not there.

If you don't see them there, perhaps reinstall RealityFactory.

(also it appeared that your cut and some of your solid items were not lined up correctly within the boxes.
Just a noob with a genuine hobby interest looking for answers not found in docs.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. Allanon, i have tried doing what you said but no matter what corrections i did, the problem stayed. I would be very grateful if you corrected it for me and then upload it. Thank You.

You can see where the leak is marked. To fix the problem you will need to move the right end brush so it is even with the other brush then resize the cut brush so it is not creating a leak:

Allanon, thank you for your help but have you tries compiling the game. I have compiled it but i got an error message. Can you please tell what the problem is?

What errors are you getting? I'm not a mind reader so you need to provide more information such as message boxes, compiler log, log files, and what settings you are using.

No i mean the compilation has been successful but the game won't run. When i pressed "Preview in Reality Factory" all went well until a pop-up came saying: "RealityFactory.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You need to restart the program. An error log has been created". Do you know what is wrong?

Please show us your Realityfactory.log file. We might find out more with it - usually when there is a crash the Realityfactory.log file will point you into the right direction.

Might try removing the space from the maps name. Instead of "Nade Game.bsp" try "NadeGame.bsp".
