Animation question

I tried to animate the blowback of the slide on my weapon but since the key exporter just exports bones i have to use bones for the slide move but i have no idea how to set them up to simulate that motion. all my attemts went wrong than i tried to animate it with not connected bones but that is even worse because than i have to adjust every peace of the weapon all the tim and thats really kinda impossible without making every frame a key frame.
if someone nows something please post it best way would be with a pic to explain the skelet and motion settings.

my suggestion would be to have the blowback as a seperate piece of geometry, yet still within the same mesh, and move the geometry itself up or to the side or whatever quite a ways. then, add a bone there. assign all vertices of the blowback to that bone, and thatll be easy to do with it off to the side, then in all animations have the blowback's bone moved back as part of the model, and animate it by moving the bone.
