Don't feel bad about this situation. I am sure things will work out. I am glad that I was able to find this out to prevent someone else from going through this misfortune. I didn't think that industry leading software would be so rough to install. My adobe CS3 Web Premium installed nice and easy, no catches and the EULA even provides me the option to install a second copy of it on a laptop or another desktop that I own so long as both copies aren't running at the same time! They even allow you to make yourself many legal backup copies! Autodesk only allows one, and their EULA is a mess, it is one big one for all of their software so there are clauses for each software license in it meaning standard, educational/institution, student, and demo/trial clasues. That's kind of lazy and non-user friendly if you ask me, but oh well. Tomorrow I will be able to see if I can get my money back or not. Honestly if they don't allow it I plan to complain until I can get something done. This 3DS Max student thing is ridiculous.

You do that. I hope you get some results.
I have the cs3 package as well. works fine. except my computer still has a virus so it doesn't install updates correctly. :(

Just talked to the guy I ordered my software from at my school store and he said I can return it :D!
There is good to come about from this event as I have realized what 3D modelling software I do want to get. I have been becoming fluent with trueSpace(3.2) and gameSpace light over the past few years so I think I will reinvest my money into the latest trueSpace depending on how good of a deal I can get through email promotions. This is a very god personal finding that has come about from this. I have always been asking myself what route I wanted to take to get good modelling software. Now I know which one I want.

Its just the action and the grip but the barrel is the easy part so it wont take long.

It's actually got a lot wrong wit it right now but I am pleased with the way it looks.
Thank you for your positive feedback!
It makes me want to put more effort into it.
It really helps having a friend with real guns that i can play with to get a feel for it.
Fps says if i make a gun inaccurately he will go get one and shoot me with it until I know better.
I think he's probably kidding.
Still, i like to be accurate.
I hope that one day i will be able to make the guns in the game just like the ones in real life, function is very important here.
which is why I am going to need to learn how to do scripted weapons someday.
someone with experience will have to help me with that i hope.

It's almost like i can own any gun i like and do anthing with it i want if i can make them in my virtual world!!!!
(ps, no i don't have problems with my perception of reality!)

just to say its not a good idea to phototexture a gun, since it only looks good from the side. its better to increase your own skilll by texturing it yourself

I was actually planning on doing that later, but i wanted to use the photo texture for reference. i have a big library of gunmetal textures and stuff but i didn't have the rubber grips, so i left the photo texture for now.
its fairly decent for a photo texture tho.
and the pump is a seperate texture, im thinking about replacing it also tho cause it doesn't have enough depth to it.
