Can't Add Material! (and error)
I got an awesome alien model, which is jointed and animated, but it's in max.I got thing working with the NFO and KEY plugins, but I have another problem.I exported an NFO of the actor to build it in Equity, but when I set the path to the NFO in Equity and clicked on Build Actor,Equity gave a message saying: "Can't Add Material" and gave an error. Please, help me with this!I just need this model in my game!
Re: Can't Add Material! (and error)
At the moment .key animations are disabled in equity so you can't build an actor from .nfo and .key files in Equity. They will probably be enabled in the release after the next one. Build the actor in Astudio for the time being.

Re: Can't Add Material! (and error)
Hmm,I just tried to convert the NFO with the Astudio, but it gave this message:
From what I see it's something wrong with the textures...i thinkWarning: no material path specified
add material 0 ('(MAP) ALL MATS-DX Disp: gazer_self_illum.dds')
ERROR: Material 0, unable to locate bitmap 'gazer_self_illum.dds'
ERROR: Unable to add material 0 ('(MAP) ALL MATS-DX Disp: gazer_self_illum.dds')
Error: Failed to build '.\BldTemp\gazer.BDY' file from 'gazer.NFO' file
Error: Failed to make BDY file
Error: Failed to build body. Unable to make Actor.
Re: Can't Add Material! (and error)
You have to show Astudio where the material file is. Enter the path to the material file in the paths tab. I think you will have to save the material seperately from 3dsmax. I don't know much about 3dsmax I'm afraid.

Re: Can't Add Material! (and error)
Thanks for the help, bernie ,but I want to ask another question,is it possible to build an actor from a key file and a max file in Astudio?
Re: Can't Add Material! (and error)
No. You can only build it with .nfo and .key files or .bdy and .mot files. Thanks for the help, bernie ,but I want to ask another question,is it possible to build an actor from a key file and a max file in Astudio?

Re: Can't Add Material! (and error)
damn....I'll search in the forum if somewhere is explained how to compile an actor from NFO and KEY,because I don't know how to add the material and how to export it from .max
Re: Can't Add Material! (and error)
Here is the documentation for Astudio that came with Genesis3d 1.1:metal_head wrote:damn....I'll search in the forum if somewhere is explained how to compile an actor from NFO and KEY,because I don't know how to add the material and how to export it from .max

Also, NFO files are text files and you can edit them. I think actor textures must be bitmaps, RF may have changed this requirement but for G3D it was required. Open the NFO file and look for your texture names and if they are not bitmap files then change the extension to .bmp. You must also convert your textures to bitmap files.

I don't get it,I did everything like it's said (at least I think I did it)and it's still not working..
it says:
Look,I've uploaded a picture of what I did,can someone please take a look at it and tell me where I'm wrong (god,I didn't think I'll have problems witha Astudio).
it says:
all this doesn't make sence to me...nfo.BDY' out of date. (Doesn't exist) yeah, that's because I WROTE nfo.NFO !!!! "alien.apj'" ??? I set the output to .act ..Building 'C:\user\Users\Desktop\RealityFactory2\tools\alien.apj'

Re: Can't Add Material! (and error)
I've never worked with NFO files, but this line is troublesome:
Now, for all I know, and I don't, astudio may do a conversion TO bdy then act?
Make sure your textures are where the NFO file says they should be, or maybe they just have to be in the same folder as the NFO file.Warning: no material path specified
Now, for all I know, and I don't, astudio may do a conversion TO bdy then act?

Re: Can't Add Material! (and error)
Make sure you put the absolute path of the folder that holds your textures in the Paths->Material directory textbox.
Re: Can't Add Material! (and error)
That is correct. An actor (.act) file consists of a header, a body and a directory containing the motions.astudio may do a conversion TO bdy then act?

Re: Can't Add Material! (and error)
Well, you got past the texture issue, according to this. Now it seems to be a mesh issue:metal_head wrote:ohh, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but the textures are in the nfo folder and I gave the path to the folder: C:\Documents and Settings\MHead\Desktop\gazer
