The UVW coordinates before,and after the meshsmooth:The outer part has breaken up.
Some vetrexes need welding and interpolation (move each vertex halfway towards the other and weld.

Now i see that i missed to weld a vertex on the left in the first place,but i can do it later.

Vertex 141 has been welded,do the same to any others that need it.
Generaly the tesselation enlarges the outer uvw and the vertexes fall outside of the bitmpap
(compare the two unwrap window pics),and makes the bitmap look zic-zac /\/\/\/\/\/\ if it is a detailed pattern,so you either have to re-edit each vertexes to fit inside the bitmap outline.

Conclusion,i think it is better to bevel the faces more times and then chamfer some edges to clean the shapes.
