Material names and ChangeMaterial

Mr,Bernie,you are propably the most concerned about actors,so i would like to ask:
The material of an actor must have the same for all Lod's in order a changematerial to work on the material of the base actor along all the LOD versions?I cant think any other way at the momment.

I'm not at all sure about this but I would imagine that is the case.
