Free modeling programs?

Post by dan6464 »

I've used up my 30 day free trial on milkshape and don't know if I want to buy the program. Are there any free modeling programs that I would be able to use with reality factory?

Blender is the best free modeling program, but it's also more complicated due to more power. If it's too much for you, use something like anim8or or wings 3d. Or just spend $25 and get milkshape :P

You'll want to check out this page:

I only discovered yesterday, and from there I found this site. It's the single best place I have ever seen for free 2D/3D art software on the web. Pages and pages and pages of it.

I have downloaded a great 3d model from this forum (courtesy of kiji8989) but it is in .max format and i cannot load it into the actor viewer. I noticed all the premade actors for reality factory are in .act format, is that the only format reality factory is compatible with, is reality factory compatible with .max, is there a way to convert a .max file to a .act.

There is a tool that comes with Reality Factory called astudio.exe, it will convert 3dsmax (.max) files in to .act files. This is a very old tool and only works with 3dsmax 2.5 and maybe 3.0. You would also need 3dsmax installed on your computer to use the tool.

If you have a newer version of 3dsmax then convert the model to a format compatible with Equity which is a newer tool that converts models to .act files.
