.max models

I am very new to both reality factory and making games in general (last week,after doing some research, i decided to take it up as a hobby) so forgive me and correct me if i use incorrect terminology.

I have downloaded a great 3d model from this forum (courtesy of kiji8989) but it is in .max format and i cannot load it into the actor viewer. I noticed all the premade actors for reality factory are in .act format, is that the only format reality factory is compatible with, is reality factory compatible with .max, is there a way to convert a .max file to a .act.

please help and thank you for any help or posts :D

thanks for the post but where can i download hgt_terrys equity and what does it do?

.max files can only be opened by 3ds Max.

The latest version of Equity can be downloaded from http://www.gamefront.com/files/user/hgtterry
It can import various file formats - amongst others .obj, .3ds, MilkShape or HalfLife 1 files - and output .act files useable by Reality Factory.

Some times it might have correct belt color and wrong normal map,sometimes diffuse and normal wrong too (i guess the belt rendered the main body textures-what else could it be).
