You can try the echaos entity which distorts the textures vertically and horizontally as much as you want.For the moment find a lava texture that is free to use and try it.
Put the name of a level lava texture in the appropriate echaos enity boxes-check the manual for details in entity reference.
A small distort value will make it look like moving.
There is also the procedural texture entity but i do not have lava presets to post and i do not know if it will have transparent areas.
You can find more details about how to make lava (adding the world model,flagging its properties,assigning it to a modelstatemodifier entity so it can do damage and other) if you make a search,
Maybe someone has a texproc preset suitable for lava surfaces and can post it.
