Hi!

My skydome works like that:

Hollow cube ->
mark ->
press 'Pgdwn' - >
the green marking lines go purple ->
on the right side you see the face attributes ->
select all faces, that should be sky (probably all of the hollow cube, and they should be marked, purple) ->
select the 'sky' option ->
klick apply ->
press 'Pgdwn' again (mark is green again) ->
add a 'Skydome' template to the map ->
add a 'sun' template to the map

should work (works with my maps)

i'm a noob, so there's no guarantee

good luck!
I need this for my academic studies. Plz help ;)

Hi again,
This is what i have so far::

1. create a level
2. place a playerstart in the level
3. place a playersetup in the level
4. place a skydome entity in the level and set Enable to true
5. flag all inner faces of the level to sky

When i compile :: i get a day time sky at the top and a night time sky at the bottom
with virgil sort of in limbo in the middle of the two

my guess is there is no terrain to walk on
but do i have to make a terrain to go into the level ? if so how do i do this.
I need some walkthrough help with this please ...before i go insane::

um i asked that same q a while back adn i think it was FPS who gave me a very nice detailed answer. I think that a search of the level desighn forum should find it :D Im not quite sure what the topic name was though... :?

oh and just in general i find that it works much better to make your entire level INSIDE a big square box, (witch then you flag ALL the sides to be sky) this way when you make and texture your terrain and import that in the sky goes ALL the way down the sides (creating a realistic horison) I havent had much time to play with the skydome so i could be wrong. :roll:

well you got most of it right, your resolution is wrong the skydome is clipping out you need to drop the horizon down in your skydome script.

here's what the documentation says

SetHeightOrigin(height);
Set the base origin of the terrain in the Y axis. By default the lowest point of the terrain is set to 0 in the Y axis. This location can be changed up or down so the terrain is underneath your level. Default is 0.

^doc link push Ctrl+F in doc's and type "skydome" to quickly locate the info on skydomes

all the commands for making the sky dome work are in there :wink:

Hi Everyone,

Im posting again just to say a big thank you
to all the members of the forum
for all your help hard work and support.

My skydome is up and running now ...
it's not perfect but it will do.

The main problem i had was with the terrain :::::

in the end i used the terrain generator programe to make a terrain \saved it as a .map file
and opened it in rf ... then i made a level and added a skydome entity.

I do have some more questions on this subject ... but for now .. thank you all so much for your time and knowlege :::::::::::::
i have learn't something from all of you
Dodger :D :lol: :D :lol:
