In a menu, and you choose the res from a dropdown, and when you exit the video menu to go onto the main or options menu, then it changes.

i suppose rf can be done with that, the programme already exists to have video settings changed, just have the information that the programe changes, link to the same options in an reality factory game, this i belive would require little programming, and im sure that something advanced as gore would have the same options.

Possibly. I do not have the final information on whether this is possible with Ogre, but currently it looks like you would have to restart the game to change the resolution. Hopefully this will change.

i dont know a game that you can do that without restarting the game. its got to be the way windows handles it, as i belive windows is the only way to change the resolution, as when you run an old games in 16bit colour and different resolution than you normaly use, when youminimize the game, you can see that windows itself has resized and the colour depth has gone down this gives me the impresion that this is controled out side of the game

There are some games. Fox example, in Half-Life 1 you can change the resolution on-the-fly. Don't even have to load/start a new game.

Resolution changing means in most cases that the video API (e.g. DirectX) has to be reloaded. This is also why the screen goes black. So it can be done, i am sure.
