Don't mean to spam, I just think this is so funny...I'm sure most of you aren't like this guy, thank God.

I got to admit, Weird Al is a pretty funny guy. It's just that I hate how people abuse him (well, to me sort of)(well, not really abuse but you get my point, or you will get my point) by listening to his music over and over. It gets old after while. That's why I can't buy any of his cd's. I also enjoy his occasional appearances on the T.V. Especially some of his comments on various VH1 shows.

God, I hate videos that show that D&D is nerdy. In my opinion it's awesome game and being smart and stuff isn't stupid at all. Only problem with them are that they lack social skills.

well by definition, lacking social skills IS nerdy, and yes people who play DnD tend to lack social skillz, but i will defonitely knock it as a game, since well ive never even seen what the box looks like and I havent a clue how its played, actually i dont even know anyone who does play it, but I have heard good things from game mags, also for it to be so popular for so long, it must have something going for it.

well im sorry to say psyco, you do know somine who plays it (well not personaly know them) but i do, or at least i used to at my old school, social skills, well im social (i hope, then again i am aparently nerdy so...) but to be honest theres nothing wrong with nerdy (thats if i am one or i really cant comment) but D&D rocks, its like a game where the ai is the best, because, you follow simple rules, but you can do ANYTHING, no limitations, so unlike computer games, if you wanted to enter a room then you can, if you wanted to walk for miles you can because the story is adaptive and made up as you go along, i suppose its WOW but in a bored game.

I play DnD too. I started playing from fifth grade and I think that I'm social person. I've got lots of friends and stuff. Anyway, I've got time so I'll try to explain it to ya
First of all: Roleplaying
The are few guys with one Game master(leader or something). If the game master is not skilled enough with roleplaying a game might be boring and go like this. "You get +10 Sword of Ogre decapitation and you see an Ogre." Player: "Awesome dude. I attack him!". If the GM is more experienced the most important thing in your game would be socializing between players. There wouldn't be just fighting, but travels, mazes. You would have to roleplay kinda seriuosly and if you would say something wrong to, let's say president, he wouldn't believe in you and you couldn't save him from, let's say again zombies.
Second FRPG
It's just like in RPG, but without actually meeting people. I think it would be kinda fun to play one here. Someone might even grab some ideas for their game
LARPG - Live Action RPG
It's a game where you actually meet people but not with char sheets and dices but with real swords and shields. I don't think there would be anything more fun than this type of game.

Well first off, please dont think that I was implying that DnD players are nerds, cause i was just refering to the stereo type. I used to play Magic the Gathering, which i believe has a similar stigma, I stopped after a while, cause all my mates who i had got to play with me decided that they were too cool to play, cause they red in blunt (sk8r mag) that its gay or summink, so now i have no one to play with :( but im not too bummed out since it was getting dull,

but DnD sounds really cool actually, and when u sed we should play
play one here
, does that mean u can play on a forum!?!? Cause i think that would be awsome! it would be really long term tho, cause people could take DAYS to have their turn, but hey that would make it more epic... but if ive misunderstood your post please correct me cause thinking about it, It would be rather difficult to play it on a forum lol... and the thread would eventually be like 100 pages long :?

Yes, you unserstood correctly. It might be fun, but that's just and idea, if anyone would like to play I could be a GM, but no DnD, cause im not really good at this system, insted we could you lite GURPS rules that's for newbies. And yeah, in my opinion most of MtG player are nerds because they spend hundreds of dollars just for cards

lol. yes, D&D is nerdy. there are no two ways about it. so is making video games. we're all nerds.

now, there isn't necessarily anything wrong with being nerdy, but it certainly isn't gonna get u laid ;) feel free to be a nerd if u want, just make sure it doesn't contradict the other goals in your life. look at all the successful adults you know, how many of them are truly nerdy? how many of them even play Halo?

When u really grow up, you realize that other things are more important. that's what it means to be an adult... age isn't the only factor.

lol, and plz don't flame me for this. you know im right.

yea i woundnt mind playing, but i dont think we should play it here on the rof forum, the post would keep getting lost and when new people come then it may look strange, i suggest we make a new forum somewhere just for it, and i agree, D&D is very complicated, 3 core books, over 200 pages each, the first, character making, the second monsters, the third dungeon master guid, each retailing i belive for about £25, so i think another sort of game is in order as ltforce sugested.

@GD1 : i dont mean to flame, but dude, im not a nerd, tbh i dont really take offence, i just dont think labeling all game devs "nerds" is fair, I would call myself "popular" at my school, and im really working on the whole "getting laid thing" problem is only chicks who wana doit that are my age are sluts, so i guess ill w8 till im 16, but yeah... Infact ive met some really cool ppl who like to make games, our teams 3D modeler i met at a 3 day rock concert. It was sooo random I sat down next to this guy cause i was um lets just say i forgot where my tent and my mates where, and i think he was "lost" too, anyway we started talking and some how he told me he like to model on the computer and so i told him about the game and now were mates AND making a game, now call me a nerd (i spose i kinda am deep down) but seriously dont call heindric a nerd. hes like the coolest guy I know and also one of the only oldschool punks ive met so yeah... labeling is bad for u... dont do it :)

oh yeah and
@ Scott, yeah man thats a great idea.. It would be really cool to learn about table top RPGs and for me the internets like the most practical way to do it :D

wow what a way to folow a "im not a nerd" speach LAWL!

lol, yeah, i was just joking. it's not really what u do, it's ur attitude towards it. you can be a video game nerd, or you can be a totally ripped jock but still be a football nerd. some of the nerdiest people i know are talented musicians. and there is nothing wrong with those things, but when you put something that most people consider trivial ahead of the more important pursuits in your life, then you become a nerd.

making video games doesn't necessarily make u a nerd, but it is something people tend to be nerdy about. as long as its not the only thing u are concerned with, then u aren't truly a nerd. now if u have a shrine to Yoda in your closet, that might be a different story ;) LOL

EDIT: and no, getting laid is not an important pursuit. it's not exactly something im worried about either. :D
