I have a brush, and set a face as mirror, But when i run it, the computer speeds up like its rendering something, but nothing changed on the model.
I have a Satellite P35 with 512 gb of ram and the mirror in the tutorial does work
Mirrors wont work :(
Mirrors got me at first as well, but they do work, firstly tick the box as mirror in the brush dialog box(wich i assume you've found) secondly you need to go in to the face properties dialog box, pgdn on selected brush. then click on the face you want to be reflective, then tick the relfect box in the options, this should work.
you also have to check transparency on and set it to a value like 100 or so. This way you can see 'beneath' the mirror face - only then you can see the thinghs inside the mirror.
If you want the sight through the mirror to be clearer, lower the transparency value. A 'perfect' mirror would have a Transparency of 0, while with a transparency of 255 you can imagine it like being covered full with dust (that looks like the texture of the mirror face)

Everyone can see the difficult, but only the wise can see the simple.
