dirty the textures up a bit,and use a dimmer dirty door, but the bricks look good, just need more dirt.

i like the brick texture. i agree, the door is a bit bright compared to the rest. it just looks kinda out of place.

u should think of adding some kind of transitional border where the building meets the ground. also, a frame around the door or an overhang above it might make it look a little more like it belongs there.

im really diggin it though. it's actually looking pretty impressive. keep it up. :)

k, im changing the gameplay. since it seems too much like other fps, im going to make it objective based. like in objective maps, killing enemies won't help you win. You HAVE to do the objective to win. or would that be too linear? im konfuzed

No problem, just add some 'secret spots' the players have to fight for or discover (hard to discover), that reward them afterwards. Like a weapon shop that sells a rare weapon, but is guarded by the 'evils'. Then they will also look for those spots and the game gets more interesting.

Those thinghs fit to all kinds of games. Jedi Knight 2 had these secret spots too at some points (like spots were there were weapons in the dark and you had to use the nightsight) and there were also big blaster machines that were normally guarded by enemies (one of them sat on it). And then when you had conquered it you could sit onto it and use it against your enemies.

I once saw in a book ('Game Design', they just discussed this topic) that Serious Sam had a spot were there was a 3D-Text underwater and it said 'You are not supposed to be here'. Now that's cool.

k, what about in some maps theres a hidden spot that rolls a die to get a special ability, teles you somewhere, or dies and stuff like that. and every time you use them, the spot changes!

interesting idea.....i'm having, after a boss fight in my rpg, 3 doors to choose from. 1 takes you back to the beginning of the level, another takes youto a different area, the third kills you.

I think they've truncated waaaaaaay to much from modern rpg's, in order to get more people to play them.

one of the most fun things i've ever done in a game, was the rearrange the blocks with the ghost picture on them from Legend of Zelda:Ocarina of time.

REVAMPED MANOR MAP!!!!!!!!!

Post by darksmaster923 »

k, when i was editing the manor map for objective based sweetness, i noticed how bad it looked. so i added some sun entities and turn down default level lighting and it looks kewl.

oh yeah, in the dice spot here are the effects:
1. Kills you
2. Teles you to good area
3. Teles you to spawn
4. INVINCIBILITY FOR 10 SECONDS!!!!
5. Spawns a random custom gun you cant get anywhere AND in the armory if you win the round, gives the GUN SHOP SCREEN!!! it lets you pick the gun you found.
6. Blinds you!

Kills you may be a bit hard, but you could make something like a bomb appaearing and there is a time counter on it that goes down. like you have 3 or 4 seconds to get you out of the place. If i would fail then, then at least the game was fair and gave me a chance. If i just died, i would simply turn off the game because it's no fun anymore (i would feel it's very unfair).

Maybe a alarm bell that is very loud and some of the remaining enemies run to you?

I however like the blind you idea. That seems to get interesting.

i like this idea.....gameplay is everything to me.I couldn't really care what the graphics look like, as long as i have fun with the game. You seem to be wanting good gameplay here......and i'd love to have a crack at it!

It is up to us "indies" to push the gameplay envelope, cause the big guys ain't gonna change from what works.

Are the buildings enterable?
