3 free 3d packages

Post by Spyrewolf »

just seen this link over at the polycount forums and though i'd post it here, it's about the state of 3d packages, also it has link to 3 free packages that look quite promising especially if your're finding blender daunting, and a different solution to ms3d, doesn't fix the export to .bdy problem though you'll still need milkshape for that still.

Yes. Especially since its always crashing.
actually it's a lot more stable as of late and haven't really had too many probs with it, i still love milkshape it's just a bit limited thats all.

MM3d can open these, i think........or you can wrangle blender to export 'em, if you're feeling adventurous.

You cannot go to ACT or BDY/MOT because Blender's Python API cannot call Genesis's Actor API. You have to use the NFO format for the geometry and the KEY format for the animations which are text based formats built for Genesis 3D. The need for a NFO/KEY plugin would be nullified once QoD gets Actor Studio to accept Collada files as a valid medium to create actors. That would open up many more modelling programs, Blender being one of them. You would just export to Collada DAE then import into Actor Studio.
