made these two for my hopeful fps ive been planning for a while but new games keep coming out and having features id like and then i have to play the games and its an endless cycle of fun.

anyway im going to have to learn to texture and skin soon but id figure that i should have something to show for being a member for 3 years (not counting the old forum).

The frag is a standard looking grenade sans the pin which i figure wont be needed and the sword is more or less the one from mutant chronicles though i will change it eventually so everything is my own design.

criticism and such is welcome (especially from the veterans about the faces).

well generally quite nice low poly models here, I think these could look really nice if good skins are used and wisely, not much critisism, other than i just gerenally dont like the rounded bit above the handle of the sword, but you said you would be changing that, and its mainly just personal preference.

and yes, the endless cycle of fun,

a wise games magazine editor once said, and i felt he was talking directly too me, "if your serious about making games, burn all the games on your shelf" now i dont think he was being literal and i didnt burn ANY of the games on my shelf, but i did learn that without strict diciplin from allowing myself to play all the time, i would never achieve the satisfaction of getting somewhere with a game.

i like the sword, the grenade is a bit too low poly mabe not sure if it will look any better with smoothing on. how about LoD, have this one for far away, and make a bit higher poly for when the player holds it.

I'll give my final statement after you texture these, but so far they look great. Especially with such low polycounts.

Though I gotta agree with psYco, I don't quite like the handle and the round part of the sword.

Round sword handle- I dont mind the way it looks but seems like i should change it. Ive been drawing some stuff so ill try to see which i like better.

Grenade-These are not going to be first person models but 3rd when they are on the ground or being thrown. I wasnt even sure if i should include the clamp part for the grenade since i wasnt sure if it would be wasted polies when youre not going to even look at it when its flying at you. Actually im not positive you will be able to see yourself holding it. Ive been playing call of duty 2 a lot and i dont think they show you holding it when your going to throw it. And since im going to try and have the grenade assigned to right mouse click for readily available throwing im not sure a first person model is needed.

Skinning going to be hard for me since i have no photoshop skills to speak of and lithunwrap wont work with max files. though after some of the guides i just read i think i have to export the models to 3ds and then open them. i should probably also learn to use max right first since all ive done is learn to model.

I was thinking, for the sword, to use the blade since i really like the style and just change the handle.

Well i have all summer to learn to skin and texture so as soon as they are better more pics. Thanks guys for the input.
