me, QoD , paradoxnj ( he's the jet3d guy....please check that engine out---same basic set-up as RF, using a more advanced engine(in some ways))and a few others are hold-overs from the ancient forums, heh.I ain't goin' nowhere....I've tried other things.I've bought other engines.....some have editors that are easier than RF's, some have more resources.....but none do what RF does : Very minimal scripting, a lot of resources, easy to use and understand editor, can have a starting level up in 20 minutes if you wanted to.NOTHING ELSE DOES THAT.period.Trust me, i've looked.

What, to me, would "beat RF", would be if gekido's gdgi released their GameCore with support for Rf's rfeditpro editor, and scripting functions exposed in the exact same way. That engine, with this editor would murder every single last engine on earth, or any other planet .

I remember that time well

1 : It was about the time Andy was going to rework RF to work with irrlicht

2 : Andy became 17. (I think)

3 : steven8 became our new mod.

4 : I keepted side tracking Andy from his work by playing UT2004 online with him and scott
(must get a server up and running again) (will call it FR2 2010 ) ( watch out for it )

5 : But most of all I remember it was also the time we had host problems and the site going up and Down like a mad yoyo.

Yes they were the good old days.....

Well, it seems like my thread is working :).

I'm glad to see that many of us are dedicated to RF.

Remembering the time of server instability, I am very happy with the current RF site. No long loads, no down time(that I have seen). Its amazing what RF has been through and survived. With the three years I have been here RF has been on four(or just three?) different web servers! Since it survived that, it should be able to survive pretty much anything. I remember the RF site went down for over a week a long time ago! That was nerve racking. I wasn't sure if it was going to come back! But low and behold RF is still alive and kickin'!

I remember the UT 2004 games being set up here on the forums. I was never able to play because the pc I was using was too old!(TNT2 32meg graphics card) :(

HEY HEY MoG, yeah, people have left and things have slowed, even i have been away for what feels like forever now (tho im living week to week so i dont actually know how long its been, that is mainly cause for somereason i couldnt log in :? for AGES i just coulnt log in :( but then i eventually forgot about it, (not proply but just with school and stuff its been hectic))

anyway its good to see that this thread (about the comunity dying) has had so many replys, anyway tiz a good sighn i feel, and i dont believe that this community will die, the time for RF will eventually come, but i believe that the community with simply change and move on, as it has in the past.

I hope to be around ALOT more often btw :D

I like to stir up the forums  . This thread is lasting longer than last years. The thread I started last year lived for a whole 4 days of posting before I added a few posts later.

Times are a changin' I suppose. I started the thread and then haven't posted for 12 days  . I wish I could have visited here more often but I seem to get busy often anymore. I will still be making an effort to stop by here often. Besides, my game project will never be pushed aside. I will finish it even if it has to launch on RF3. So I am here to stay.

i'll keep with rf....i'll make my fps with it, because that fits perfectly with what rf is capable of......my mmo project will go on my realm crafter 2 liscense, my single player rpg will be with beyond virtual.

heh......funny thing is...all three share a storyline, and at least 2 characters........so that's gonna be a trip to try to make the same 2 models work in all three engines........

Wow, I didn't know you had 3 game projects! Good luck with transferring models from one engine to another. I think it's trouble enough getting trueSpace models just into RF.
