XBOX 360 Prices and separate free router

I found out that the 360 will be two sets.
$399 comes with the system, wireless controller, hard drive, dvd remote, ethernet cable, hd cables, headset.
$299 comes with the system, wired controller and standard cables.

Talk about rip off. All i want is the system, hard drive, and a wired controller. Why wired you ask cause i dont want to use batteries or buy their charger and batteries. So i'm probably going to cancel my preorder unless they turn this around and think.

o and bestbuy has a usb wireless adapter for $5 and a linksys router for free. check out their site or go to the store to check it out.

This is a marketing stratergy to try and counter act sony's "pricey" comment,

by releasing a cheaper console they may be able to steal consumers/who dont want to shell out large amounts and wait for sony,

on the other hand as you've suggested it may not make to much difference either way because alot of people ahve stated that the cut back machine is a rippoff and would either,

a. buy the expensive one or
b. wait for the inevetable price drop that all new consoles go through after about a year and a half,

personally i wanna wait for all new console and see what they all offer before commiting, currently im favour towards sony, but i've only ever bought playstations,

and a wired controller

Microsoft has stated that any usb-ready controller device will work with the 360...this includes the PSP, there are some converter's which will allow your to use your exsisting xbox controller with a USB converter,

personally i like wired controllers as well, however i know sony will support bluetooth(cell phone technology) capable which is far superior to infra-red, but im unsure what Microsoft is going for in terms of wireless, support

I always wait for prics to drop because I'm a cheap mofo. I'm just going to really enjoy the price drop in regular Xbox games after the 360 is released. Even though it's supposed to be backwards compatible the difference in game graphics quality is going to be major, and enough to force Xbox game prices down.

Because I'm one of those people who goes to EB Games and digs through the used $5 titles and ingnors the $50-60 new releases. I've found lots of great games for cheap that way. Like "The Thing" really enjoyed that game $7 was a good deal on it if you ask me. Gotten a few others cheap as that or cheaper as well.

Well i usually wait for stuff to become cheaper. Only last christmas used xboxs sold out so i was worried that when halo 3 came out they would sell out of 360s as well. i also wanted quake 4. well now ebgames has a 700 dollar and a 600 dollar bundle both too expenisve. I will either cancel the preorder or use it as credit. Now my eyes are open and i can become cheap again. When 360 costs 200 dollars and comes with all the accessories that i'll never use then i'll buy it but not until then (or if a really good deal comes around).

Being cheap isnt a bad thing usually. Buying a $5 unreal championship or $7 wolfstein means more money for more games. Buying it when it first comes out just lets you play it for a few months more.

Also a standard system should be the console, hard drive, av cables, and wired controller. Having a hard drive in the original xbox and not in the standard set for 360 makes no sense.
