45 degree angles with cut brush?

Post by FlyingPixel »

Hello everyone! New to the scene of RF and I have a question. I notice that there are only basic shape templates. Can I use cut brush to create a 45 degree angle to a block, then use this block to cut brush a section from another block in order to have a 45 degree angle like around the top of a door? ?understand my meaning? Or, is there a more simple way? I do not have a 3D program so I wish to create all my level in RFEditPro.

Oh sure. You can do all kinds of things. Do mean to say you want to create a triangle at the top of a doorway? You can create a ramp which is 45 degrees, make it cutbrush, then duplicate it, put them back to back, and place them. or, you just make a solid box cutbrush, make the bottom and the sides the same length, but leave the top at 1. Yo ucan't do zero, if I recall right, and there is your 45 degree angle wedge to cut out the top of the doorway.

I used the arch as a cutbrush to make arched doorways and sewer tunnel entrances before. rfeditpro has many, many possibilities. Don't be afraid to experiment.

Cool! have been experimenting the last 15 minutes while waiting for a reply to my post. I can see how I can use the staircase template used as a ramp to get my angles. Nifty! Will also have to try out the arch....that could open up a lot of possibilities since there are numerous settings that can be adjusted.

Thanks for the quick reply!

No problem. With the arch, just set the inside radius to one, and will cut a complete hole out. Good luck!

The basic templates can be customized pretty much with the available options. For really complex objects you should consider to use actors instead of level geomety. I recommend to stay away from cut brushes as they may have some undesirable side effects.

My experience with cutbrushes has definitely been bad. However anything that can be done with a cut brush can be done with a regular brush.

Between all the shapes, and sizeds of brushes in RFEditPro there is no shape that cannot be built with a little thinking. Good for people like myself who played with a lot of lego's growing up. lol

Best method is to experiment away and see what you can build with them.
