RF Faq http://terrymorgan.net/rffaq.zip

Max 3.1 tutorials http://terrymorgan.net/download.htm

'tools.htm' at http://www.genesis3d.com is also good, but you
have to download the whole thing I think.

The model needs to be UVW Unwrapped, Physiqued with at least 1 bone. Although in max 2 bones is the minimum.
Then put the .max file and the texture into the same directory before running Actorstudio.
Should export just fine so long s there are no other problems with your model.

As far as keyframe animations I don't know. I've always used seperate animation files. Example I do one for Walk then I save it as walk.max.
Then in motions under actorstudio you simply set the animations up and point them at the correct .max files.

This is typically though the type of thing it will take a lot of playing with to get right but once thats done it's a breeze to export.

how do you export the keyframes with the model?
also, are you exporting both the nfo AND the key files, and feeding them all to astudio? the .key files are what contain your animation.

the same way your exporting .nfo, except there should be two scripts: one for nfo, one for key included with the exporter. go like you would to export .nfo,m but choose the .key script instead.

at least i think your using the script version.
