Photoshop or Image Zone

I've used Gimp for years and because of that the interface feels perfectly normal. I only used Photoshop for a very short time. I don't know much about Paint.NET, but for one it isn't cross-platform.

I think Paint.net has been ported to Linux using Mono.

I've gotten used to using it for programming, and it works well for me.

I never knew, but apparently the Minix mascot is a raccoon. "the MINIX mascot is a Raccoon" http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com/articles/minix

Apparently UNIX doesn't have a mascot, per se.

photoshop is hard, photoshop is powerful, if you learn it well you can do next to anything, and its very easy to obtain now days. Ive been using it for years now and I would never go back, there is a plethora of tutorials for every occasion and so simply through its own popularity it has become a fantastic combination of versatile tool and helpful community. Go for photoshop.

For powerful image editing for free GIMP does all that I have ever asked for. I recommend it to anyone. The interface of GIMP is very similar to the versions of photoshop that I have used, so I am not sure where others have had difficulty with GIMP's U.I.(user interface).

I dont want to fuel a debate though so please don't overreact because I know others have said about GIMP as well. I am just agreeing that GIMP is sufficient enough for me.

I like GIMP as well. My friend recommended it, however I think that the UI of PSP is easier and faster to manage. Just my personsal preference.
Also, is there a good place to buy PSP 9, 10, 11, or 12 N.I.B (new in box) for under $50?
I'm thinking about trying Ebay.
Also, if you can hand draw well, I suggest Wacom. I'm planning on getting a Wacom tablet some time

Wacom tablets are really cool. I have a 5x6 Graphire 4(it cost me $100 USD) and it makes drawing on my computer so much easier. I want to get a larger one but the size I want to get is $445(Intuos 9x12)

!!! . If I only had money. I would love to have that large of a surface are to use. But sadly, I am stuck at the size of an index card... I got the 5x6 because I wanted to see how well it would work and I love it. I guess its good enough for what I use it for because I seldom use it any more. I used to use it a lot for the first year I had it, but since then I haven't had nearly the amount of time to devote to my game projects.

I highly suggest Wacom tablets. They are top quality and I only had an issue with it installing and working right on Vista Ultimate 64 bit in GIMP. GIMP crashed occasionally when I would use it but I think the new drivers I downloaded have fixed it. It works flawlessly everywhere else.
