Not really, I got the CS2 version for about 200 bucks. Standard price nowadays. Eventually I'll probably upgrade to CS3.

Re: YAY Photoshop!
lol, I work with Gimp and Microsoft Paint! I also have Corel Painter essentials 2, but I rarely use that. I would be a Photoshop Elements 3.0 user, but its not compatible with 64bit Vista . I used to be able to do quite some amazing things in PE3.0. Oh well. Gimp and MS Paint are enough for me!(no kidding!)

Hehe, you have a Wacom, don't you?
Yeah, gimp is pretty good, I still have it installed. There are things that bug me about it, though, and it's not quite as powerful as photoshop.

Yes, I do have a Wacom, the Graphire 4 4x5. It came with PSE3.0 CPE2 and Nik Pro Photoshop effects along with a screen mark up program and a MS Word add-on that enables you to sign documents and stuff. Unfortunately, I really like PE3, but it doesn't work on Vista and I dont have the money or currently the time to invest into high end software and use it enough to get my monies worth. Sadly, I have done very few things art wise on my computer over the past year and I don't see myself finding time anytime soon. College takes up a lot of time!
Anyhow, Gimp is good, Photoshop is more advanced and I like it better too as it has more effects to apply to images. Only problem I have had with GIMP is that my Graphire driver doesn't play well with it. GIMP usually crashes while I'm using my pen tablet if I'm not really careful about how fast I go and what I do.
I personally would love to get Adobe Wed Design Premium as it has Photoshop CS3 Extended, Dreamweaver CS3 and Flash CS3. Those three programs would be an awesome combination to help me with all aspects of my game project. Someday, I will purchase it .

Re: YAY Photoshop!
MOG it sounds to me as though you'd be better off going back to win2k or xp and ditching vista.

Well, probably, however, then I can't play Halo 2(PC) . That is actually, the only reason I got Vista last year when I built my computer, I wanted Halo 2 and it was an exclusive. I do really like Vista, but it does have its flaws. I got Ultimate 64bit as I thought Ultimate would be the most stable and most updated as it was the highest of all the Vista options. I choose 64-bit as it is faster than 32-bit and my processor can support it so I shouldn't hold my computers speed back. Wouldn't you know that Vista actually wasn't as efficient as it said it was going to be. Games even run slower on Vista than XP. The hack patch for Halo 2 to play on XP even plays better than on Vista !
I would be better off with XP but, I am not going to buy another OS now that I have paid so much for Vista Ultimate($200 for O.E.M. vers.). Oh well, such is life. At least now all newly produced software can run on Vista. I wish Microsoft would have gotten their program backwards compatibility done correctly though.

Don't you have a copy of xp for your previous computer. The licence allows you to use it on any one computer. If you delete the OS from your old PC you can legally use it on your new one. Then you can sell on vista to some other poor unsuspecting soul . You can always use the hack patch for H2.

Well, my old computer is my families computer. And unfortunately, our installation disk was designed for a recovery partition so it will only install on that hard drive. All said and done it would be too much work to switch OS, even if I had my own copy of XP(as my family may want to switch back to it). I have gigs of data that would need to be backed up, and all sorts of things. I don't mind Vista, and actually I do prefer it over XP with most of how it is set up. My only problem is with certain minor software bugs and am awaiting service pack 1 which will release within the next two months. Its funny Vista can play Halo 2 at max settings with smooth framerates but it stutters from time to time on max settings playing the original Halo! Oh well, thats progress .

Herp derp.
Re: YAY Photoshop!
uh... it is optimized for xp Vista was unheard of when halo 1(which is what he's talking about stuttering) was being develop. Therefore no way it could be optimized for vista. So its not halo 1 that screwed up... its microsoft when they didn't work harder on backwards compatibility. I too run vista I don't believe I could even get halo 1 to even work on mine at all. But I don't have the best of cards.
