Forum private messages question

I sent two mails (private messages) to another forum user and i dont know if he got them-or if they are sent at all,
because i still see the messages in the outbox folder-not in the sent items as i expected.

Does this mean my mails are not sent yet-
or the recipient user has received them but has nt opened yet the messages in his inbox?
Does anyone know how the forum mail works?

I don't know for sure, but they don't seem to dissapear from your out folder until the recipient has opened them. So I take it that is how it works.
