Virgil Skeleton

Post by Master »

Can somebody get me virgil's skeleton in a .3DS or .GMAX file. I have the model in .3DS i just need the bones. But if you could give me a file with the model AND the bones....that would be even better. Actually if you could get me a file with the model, the bones, and go ahead and assign the vertecies to their proper bones.....that would be gravy....but if not just the bones will do..

Go to my filefront account and download universal human, universal woman and universal robot. They all contain models with virgil skeleton.

.3ds format doesn't support a skeleton and I don't think you can import a skeleton into gmax either. If you load the ms3d file into lithunwrap which comes with rf you can save it as .3ds from there but you wont get the skeleton I'm afraid. You need milkshape to deal with the skeleton. Or make your own in gmax.

Yeah I don't have Milkshape. I use Gmax because it's free. I've never worked with animation and I wanted the same skeleton so i could use all of the vigil animations. If someone with more experience with modeling with bones and animation could make me a skeleton in Gmax that could use those animations and send me the .gmax file I would really appreciate it.

Sorry for the double post, but Gmax can't open or import .max files. It needs to be converted to .3ds.

Read my post again. I've already told you how to convert from .ms3d to .3ds.
Also .3ds doesn't support a skeleton, virgils animations are in .mot format and Gmax does not support .mot files neither does 3dsmax come to think of it. So you will have to make the animations yourself.
If you want to use virgils animations you NEED Milkshape OR another program that supports the .bdy and .mot formats and I don't know of any other program that does. Maybe Equity will when Terry finishes writing it but who knows?

I meant to say .gmax.

I don't want to edit the animations. I just want to edit the mesh, which I already have in .gmax format. Then i want to compile my mesh and virgil's .mot animations. Does that make sense or is that not even possible?

You can edit the mesh but that is all without Milkshape. You are going to have to make a new skeleton, rig it and make new animations in gmax yourself.
