Uv-texturing help

Post by jonas »

I'm in need of assistance. I need to know how to make a uv map, then make a texture for it. I know there are a lot of tutorials for uv mapping but I haven't seen one that gave detailed instructions on making the actual texture. Do any of you know were one is.

I would like if it would show you how to take a picture of someone and strech it and do what ever to make it fit a 3d model of a person.

Focused, hard work is the real key to success. Keep your eyes on the goal, and just keep taking the next step towards completing it. If you aren't sure which way to do something, do it both ways and see which works better. - John Carmack

It's usually easier to adjust the UV map to fit the texture than trying to skew the texture to fit the UV map.

Overall as far as difficulty goes though I would say UVW Mapping a humanoid character, and applying a texture would be on a scale from 1 - 10, 10 being the hardest thing in game dev. At about a 15.

I've gone through a dozen tutorials on the subject and no 2 people use the same method. My best suggestion is to start with simpler objects, and then move to more advanced objects as you get more and more comfortable.
