Can somebody get me an uzi

Post by fps »

Fps here,
i need some help with a 9mm uzi model set, the problem is that i dont have one.
If sombody could provide me with some first/third person models it would really rock.
I would need things like apj's act's mot's and whatever else you can give me, and dont worry cause once i have the models i am already experienced at putting them together.
Looking for: uzi (hand held), and a uzi rifle, basicly they are the same gun with some simple modifications.
Also i will need things like clips and actions to be seperate for animation purposes.

Thanks in advance.

Would there be pay involved?

 j/k.. You can look for some free gun models via: google.. Almost all of them you have to pay for though..

Well fps let me break it down for you on why models seem to cost so much.

Time to model and Uzi - approx 5-8 hours.
Time to texture the Uzi - approx 1-2 hours.
Time to animated, export, and test in RF - 1-5 hours.

So at best you talking about 7 hours of work to get one gun for RF.

Now I work as a night auditor and get paid $7.50 an hour which is a whole lote less than a professional modeller.

So that comes to $52.50 worth of my time. Thats just why it's rare for anyone to do contract work for free for anyone. Unless it is a well organized serious project with a possile % at selling time.

Now if I factor in having a unique skillset as not anyone can do the above at a professional level, or even a high amateur level.
Plus the use of a high dollar software, and the fact that it is a custom request. Not a how much do you want for that Uzi but I want an Uzi.

Then on turbosquid such a item would go for probably anywhere from $200-450 depending on the quality of the model, and texture. Because at $200 a model for say 10 weapons that is $2000.
Which is less than 1 months pay for a 3D modeller to do nothing but weapons.

So for a professional project that is cheaper than doing it in house. Also whats $2,000 worth of artwork when you are using a $350,000 engine and spending millions.

Free quality would be an extruded cube with a photo texture chopped off the net. No animations, etc.

I understand that you are on a budget or have no budget since it's a hobby. Which mean you have no deadline. So grab Milkshape get some tutorials, and start chopping some poly's.

Then get Gimp and start chopping some photo's.

The only other options are
A) Hope and Prey someone has nothing better to do...which they always do
B) Develope a skill that can be traded for the modelling work.

Such as Developer A is a good scripter, Developer B is a good modeller.
Perhaps Developer B will be willing to do models for Developer A in exchange for Developer A doing some scripts for Developer B.

You could also just use stand in actors and get the gameplay dynamics nailed. Then use the demo to attract an artist.

Ohhhh, ok I get it now, these guys are modeling pros! ok now i understand,
thanks for the explination.
I have done work in milkshape before and i know that it can consume endless hours of time to create simple things, for example i was converting some half life carectors over to acts and i needed to move the carectors skeleton up 36 textels on every keyframe of every animation, i still havent finished perfecting the animations but i was coming across so many problems that i had to cut down on how many animations i could use.
it sucked.

as for your options.
"A) Hope and Prey someone has nothing better to do...which they always do"
1 day after i posted the topic another peson posted the Taking requests topic so luckily for me i am 1 step ahead.
(:
Thanks,
