:roll: Couldn't be simpler.
Go to Import->Wavefront *.obj->Model *.obj
When loaded go to File->Build Actor As.
Job done.

Bernie, I've got Equity 4.2.1 with a new install of RF, and the only import option there is is 3DS. :?:

EDIT - Got it. I went to Terry's download page and got Equity 7C. Works like a charm.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention that I am modeling in a freeware program called Misfit Model 3D. It's a fairly nice little program. Easy to learn and has a lot in common with Milkshape.

Trouble with misfit is, it is no longer an active project and although it saves in ms3d format, Equity doesn't load the animation from the ms3d format so you need Milkshape anyway. You have to export the animation as mot or smd from Milkshape and Equity will load those seperately. Equity does have a crude animator though. I would have liked Equity to be rebuilt using the ogre engine for rendering as it's licence is much more user friendly and anyway Ogre is the way RF2 and Game Director were going but Rf2 appears to be no longer an active project. GameDirector is promissing but will it take years to complete.
You can build a good game fairly easily with the free non-comercial version of NeoAxis (also uses Ogre engine for rendering) but it will cost you $100 for an Indie licence if you want to sell the game.

Mete was kind enough to resend me my registration info, so I have Milkshape again. I think I'll still play around with Misfit, though. It may be abandoned, but it's fun. Kind of weird. I made an OBJ file in Misfit, then opened it in Blender. The first time I opened it, the model looked great, texture and all. I have opened it subsequent times, and the texture either doesn't show, or the model shows solid black. Crazy.

I also got Wings3D. Getting a texture applied to a wireframe has been terribly exhausting, and came out crappy. Not too excited about that program.

I'll most likely stick to Milkshape and Equity for most my actors. Equity is so mush better that Actor Studio.

I've read a lot about NeoAxis. I may give it a look. However, my son Steve is so excited to have RF back, he's built one monster of a level. Today he figured out how to put in Health items on his own. He had me show him how to add textures to a TXL file. Steve also showed my youngest, Tom how to level build. They are both in seventh heaven!!

RF is so much fun.

Steve,there is also GMax.

Put the script in scripts and run it for utilities tab run/open script button (i believe it is same as other versions i remember)
Hope the script works.

Maybe Max 4 plugins work for Gmax, you can try, just remember what files you put so you can remove if you need.

http://www.maxplugins.de/

go there to max 4 plugins/Export and type wavefront in the search.I hope these export/import plugins work for gmax too.if not i apologise.
